The walk offered a wonderful glimpse into the avian diversity of the Himalayan foothills, with sightings of Himalayan Bulbul, White-crested Laughingthrush, Gray Treepie, Pale-billed Flowerpecker, and Crimson Sunbird adding colour and excitement to the morning. Flocks of Alexandrine and Rose-ringed Parakeets moved through the canopy, while familiar species such as Common Myna, Jungle Myna, Oriental Magpie-Robin, and Jungle Babbler provided excellent learning opportunities for newer birdwatchers. The distinctive laughing calls of the White-crested Laughingthrush and the impressive diversity observed within a single campus highlighted the importance of urban green spaces like FRI as valuable habitats for birds and vibrant outdoor classrooms for nature education.
