Seasonal water level changes create exposed sandbars and shallow pools which favour many water associated species.
The site is famous for winter migratory birds including ducks, gulls, terns, pipits, waders, and raptors. Resident birds such as kingfishers, herons, parakeets, and sunbirds thrive throughout the year.
